I love my little condo. It's spacious (for just little ole me) and lovely, and gets enough sunlight my plants don't die, so long as I can remember to water them.
I've lived here for 8 months now.
Wow. That seems like a long time.
Normally, I'd be packing up to move again. But not this year! This year I am staying still for the summer!
YAY!
Moving propensities aside - I'm staying because I love this place. I like the city, I like the people, I like my apartment, I like my jobs.
There is only one disadvantage to this apartment.
The microwave doesnay work.
Hasn't ever in all the time I've lived here.
There is a new microwave. Sitting in it's box. On the floor. In the living room. Contemplating life and death and who knows what else. It has nothing else to do, I suppose.
It's an over-the-range microwave, which means I need tools to put it up. I also need tools, and more know-how then I currently possess, to remove the broken one from above the range.
The broken one.
As a result of this, I have become rather inventive with reheating food. I warmed up a bun in a pot still barely damp from heating soup the other day. It worked amazingly. That bun was warm and soft and tasted slightly herbacious.
Today - I forgot to take something out of the freezer to thaw for supper. Usually I plop a hunk of meat on the counter to defrost while I'm at work, and then I have to cook with when I get home. With no microwave, there's no quick way to thaw such things.
Sometimes, I have placed it under hot running water, or *in* hot water, to speed up the thawing process.
Today, on top of having to microwave, I also have no hot water coming out of my taps. No matter how hard I cry.
So! I have placed the pork, still in the freezer bag, in a pot of water, and am gently heating it.
We'll see if this works.
I hope it does.
I'm getting hungry.
