Clothes on a budget

16 April 2013

I have a budget. It's this very idealistic thing where I save money and stop buying unnecessary items, but still allows me to eat and pay rent.
Some months, I do really well with my budget.
Other months, spring fever hits and I rip apart my closet in a frenzy, throwing out clothes I no longer want to have to face every day.

And then I go shopping.

Except this time, I went shopping, and then got home and culled my wardrobe so I had enough hangers to put the new shirts on. And because I just couldn't face looking at those sad dejected little shirts every day any more. I never wear them. Or if I do, it's because I know I'm cleaning the apartment, and the mop doesn't mind if my shirt has a few holes growing at the seams.

At any rate, I bought 11 new shirts over the weekend.
Yes.
Eleven.

And they are bright! And summery! And patterned!
I feel like a new person.

Almost every article that I have tossed was dark, and a solid colour. And very much winter or fall oriented. Now I feel like I am prepared for warm weather!

We don't actually have warm weather yet, but I am prepared!!!!

I also no longer have any money in the budget for clothes until October.  So those 11 shirts had better hold my interest until then.
