Our second port was Langkawi, and we disembarked there on an absolutely beautiful day. The port itself was only a gangplank and a parking lot, but the tour buses were there - faithfully lined up and patiently waiting for their passengers.
We clambered onto a bus with a group of happy people and got a cheerful introduction to the island from our tour guide during the hour bus ride to something more interesting than the parking lot.
We visited a museum, we drove past gorgeous landscapes full of fields and trees and green things growing. We spent some time at a park on the cusp of the ocean and gazed out at the great blue expanse.
We even went to a rubber tree plantation. They grow a lot of rubber trees on Langkawi, and harvest the sap, which makes the rubber.
The plantation worker was surprised we wanted a picture with *her*, but she was such a sweetheart, and Bea was having a good time chatting with her about the technique of cutting just the skin of the bark off to draw out the sap.
