The next part of my journey took me back into the Western World. I had an overnight layover in Warsaw on my way to Paris, and since I got there fairly early in the day I decided to take a walk (always a relief after mindless hours in an airplane) and see some of the city. Who knows when I'll ever get a chance to go back?
After the terrible air quality of the last several days in Beijing, I couldn't help but take a few pictures of the clear blue skies.
Loved the architecture in Warsaw - the buildings were beautiful. So were the parks and monuments. And everywhere there was so much open space.
I didn't brave the subway system in Warsaw, but I did manage to take the city bus a few times. The timetables for the metro were like old train schedules. Just rows and columns with station names and times. And I didn't know my way around well enough to know which station went where. The above ground trams and buses were more conducive to my goal of not getting lost....
