I caught a few happy, quiet little moments with my youngest niece today
- she was playing with a giraffe and a hippo and some other little toys.
She has those great big blue baby eyes. You can fall in love with those eyes in an instant.
Her onesie said "cutest little sister" - and she certainly is that!
That quiet half hour of contentment made my day, and I caught a few of those moments on my camera - but this one is my favourite. She had heard the click of the camera a second before and was looking straight at me, trying to figure out what the heck that noise had been. One moment of complete stillness before she was back to bouncing up and down and stretching out as far as her arms would go to reach those elusive toys strewn across the carpet.
I have spent the past week getting acquainted with this little girl; learning what makes her giggle even when she is mid-sob, figuring out where she is ticklish, seeing her squish up her face every time one of her sisters blows kisses at her, or when she eats a new food. Watching her try to stand on the very tips of her toes, leaning straight out forward with a tight grip on your fingers, because she hasn't quite figured out how to bend those knees and move a foot forward yet. Trying to catch her before she face-plants into the carpet, because she hasn't quite figured out crawling yet either. Hearing her giggle with delight when her mom plants kisses all over her face.
I am storing up so many moments to treasure - I'll go home with a memory book full of joy and delightful moments. Probably a few frustrating memories in there too, from times when she is fussy, or when she refuses to be content unless you are holding her, and then wriggles out of your arms the moment you pick her up, which only makes her upset... because you aren't holding her. >_<
But mostly, my memory book will be bursting with the happy moments, the funny things, the sound of her trying out her voice and babbling away on the back seat while we are driving.
And lots of pictures.

Life's best moments are when we take time to observe others around us- and fall in love with them! Cannot wait to see the other photos too!
